On 12 December, Yen Bai received and planted 500 Japanese cherry trees in Nghia Lo town presented by Dotokukaikan Association - Japan.

On Yen Bai’s side, Mr. Nguyen Chien Thang – Vice Chairman of PPC; heads of some agencies of the province and Nghia Lo town and Department of Foreign Affairs of Ha Giang attended the event.
On Dotokukaikan Association’s side, Mr. A Okitakashi – President of Dotokukaikan Association; Mr. Takaokatêrômi – Chairman of Japanese Cherry trees Association; heads of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Nguyen Chien Thang – Vice Chairman of PPC expressed his thanks to Japanese friends and members of Dontokukaikan Association for their presents and sentiments for Yen Bai province. He also emphasized that receiving and planting cherry trees in Nghia Lo town, Yen Bai province was meaningful on the occasion of New Year 2018 and the year of 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan.
On behalf of Yen Bai’s leaders, Mr. Thang reviewed the milestones in the process of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries and people during 45 years, not only in politics, economy, culture and society but also in comprehensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity of Asia. This event will be the symbol of mutual sentiments and the cooperative and close relationship of the two countries.
Cherry trees are also planted in a road of Nghia Loi commune
Having speech at the event, Mr. A Okitakashi – President of Dotokukaikan Association thanked to Yen Bai people and showed his empathy for the damage of recent flooding.
Dotokukaikan Association of Japan operates according to the principle of bringing smiles to everyone, connecting people all around the world, bring peace to people on the globe, and hope of a world without wars. Cherry tree is the symbol of Japan, it is a beautiful flower, you will feel peaceful and relaxed when you enjoy the scene of cherry blossom trees, it will help you overcome the sadness to come closer and bring smiles, happiness to everyone from different countries, various religions and ethnics.
In 2014, the association presented to Dien Bien province 1.000 cherry trees. At this time, they granted 1.000 trees to Yen Bai and Hagiang with the hope that the local people will plant and grow them for blossom; they also hoped that after 5 years, when members of the association visit Nghia Lo town, they can enjoy the scene of blooming cherry trees in Muong Lo – Nghia Lo with smiles on the faces to connect the love, bring happiness and peace to the local people.
At the event, the President of Dotokukaikan Association and Chairman of Japanese Cherry trees Association granted 500 cherry trees to Yen Bai province and 500 cherry trees to Ha Giang province.

After the ceremony, Mr. Thang and members of Dotokukaikan Association, heads of agencies of Nghia Lo town and the local people planted 500 cherry trees in the President Ho Chi Minh Memorial Area and on the central route of the town, also in Nghia Lo fort relic.

The activity of planting cherry trees, symbol of Japan, in Nghia Lo town contributed to building the close friendship between Vietnam and Japan in general and Yen Bai to Japan in particular. We hope that the flower of Japan will grow and bloom in Nghia Lo to attract more tourists visiting the land of Muong Lo - Nghia Lo.
